Today Missing Children Europe launched a free online course on runaways, the first of its kind in Europe. The course aims to improve understanding of runaways, equip professionals with the ability to detect and respond to behaviour before a child goes missing, and encourage trust between professionals and children upon their return.
The course called “Understanding and Responding to Runaway Children” was developed as part of the EU funded RADAR project, is available in English and consists of four weekly 3-hour modules. The first module provides basic knowledge of the topic and the steps that are included in the next four weeks, the second module focuses on understanding why children run away and which risks they experience. The third module discusses positive interventions and responses for runaways, and the last module focuses on positive strategies for prevention.
The course is available for free on FutureLearn, with the possibility to upgrade and obtain a certificate.
