What will the money raised be used for?
Previous golf events successfully raised funds for the CESAGRAM (Comprehensive European Strategy Against Grooming and Missing) project, which focused on combating online grooming and child sexual abuse, and how it can lead to children going missing. Concluding at the end of 2024, the project achieved significant milestones through the efforts of Missing Children Europe and its partners. These included compiling testimonies and recommendations from survivors of online abuse who were missing, and sharing these with EU legislators to support the creation of stronger laws for protecting children online. Additionally, the project developed innovative AI tools to detect grooming behaviours on online platforms and engaging interactive games designed to help children and parents recognize online risks.
To continue our work in this field, we are launching a new project, Combating Online Grooming (COG), which aims to enhance understanding, legislation, and practices around online grooming, particularly its link to children going missing. Planned as a three-year initiative from early 2025 to the end of 2027, the project prioritizes survivor-led research to uncover underexamined aspects of grooming and develop prevention and intervention strategies. By participating in our golf event or contributing with a donation, you are helping us create a safer online environment and protect children from harm.
