YoU Decide (Supporting Youth of Ukraine Making Informed Decisions) is an EU-funded initiative led by Missing Children Europe, in collaboration with Terre des Hommes Hungary, OPU – Organisation for Aid to Refugees in the Czech Republic, Fundacja ITAKA in Poland and the Heartwarmingly Research Team.
This project is designed to support young people from Ukraine who have been displaced due to the war. In particular, it focuses on the unique challenges faced by youth as they transition into adulthood while navigating life in a new country.
Although various support services exist in host countries, a critical gap remains: displaced young people often struggle to access information and assistance that is youth-friendly, coordinated, and adapted to their needs. Many are left without guidance on key decisions related to education, legal status, mental health, and independence.
YoU Decide aims to close this gap by offering access to tailored youth-centred support across partner countries.
Project Timeline: May 2025 – October 2026

Project Objectives
- Needs Assessment: Conduct research through surveys and focus groups with displaced youth aged 15–24 in Warsaw, Prague, and Budapest.
- Co-Creation Solutions with Youth: Involve a Youth Advisory Board in every stage—from research to app content and stakeholder engagement.
- Accessible Information: Expand the Miniila App to provide up-to-date, localized resources on legal rights, education, healthcare, work, and safe travel in a youth-friendly format.
- Stakeholder Dialogue: Establish Local Youth Integration Hubs to connect local authorities, NGOs, and service providers in creating coordinated responses and opening the dialogue with youth.
- Sustainable Impact: Document and share best practices, advocate for policy change, and ensure scalability across Europe.
Youth Participation is the heart of YoU Decide!
We are not just creating solutions FOR young people – we’re creating them WITH young people. Their ideas, stories, and their voice is shaping this project. Together, we want to make things better for displaced young people who are transitioning into adulthood, and make sure decision-makers really hear what they need. We established a Youth Advisory Board of eight participants aged 16 to 20, who are actively shaping the project.
