Introduction and brief summary of the powers of the Court of Protection in relation to cases with an international element. 

The role of the Court of Protection in locating missing vulnerable adults and the range of Orders that the Court of protection can make to aid the location and return of vulnerable adults, and the safeguards that can be put into place for their protection on return to the jurisdiction. The likelihood of recognition of those orders in foreign jurisdictions, and the authorities who the Court can liaise with in other jurisdictions to secure the return.

The Hague Convention on the International Protection of Adults – which countries have ratified the Convention, its implementation internationally, its remit, and the need to expand the remit of the Convention. 

Issues relating to vulnerable adults taken overseas for the purposes of forced marriage and other abusive practices. The UK experience and practical examples of legal proceedings to protect and repatriate vulnerable adults.
