Celebrate with Missing Children Europe

Help us train frontline professionals to coordinate across borders for the protection of missing children

Recent data shows that more than 30 000 young newcomers went missing in Europe between 2014-2017. These children are at risk of starvation, homelessness and being forced into criminal networks. With limited safe and legal ways to move across countries, towards and within Europe, unaccompanied children are vulnerable to going missing and exploitation.

To help sustain our work with children in migration and continue to train frontline professionals on the ground to prevent the disappearance of these vulnerable children, we are launching a new fundraising campaign: Celebrate with Missing Children Europe.

Our goal

From 19 November 2019 until 6 January 2020, we aim to raise enough money to train at least 35 frontline professionals from different European countries. Each donation of 150 EUR will allow us to train one professional and impact the lives of countless children in need.

Missing Children Europe‘s impact

In 2015, we found that one of the main challenges faced by frontline professionals was cooperation across European borders. Since then, Missing Children Europe has striven to provide these professionals with the training they need to cooperate more efficiently with one another.

Last year, we trained close to 90 professionals from 54 different organisations across the UK, France, Belgium, Sweden, Italy and Greece. On 4 December 2019, we will train new professionals to further improve frontline processes.

We used simulations around the fictive cases of Abena and Qiro to mimic the real world. Together, NGOs, migration authorities, police forces and local authorities worked across borders to solve these disappearances. They made real-time judgement calls on how to cooperate with international partners, drawing on their knowledge and expertise to respond appropriately to the simulated disappearances.
